Wad Excursions

Since 2024, my main focus is on the Waddensea. To better understand what is really happening within this area, and also to increase my biological knowledge I decided to become a Wadden guide for the Waddenvereniging. Being a Wadden guide at this association means that I voluntarily give excursions for tourists on Texel and Terschelling. During these excursions I explain more about the existence of the Wadden, the reasons why this area is UNESCO world heritage and I dive deeper into the most common species.

Before giving these excursions, the Waddenvereniging organized 2 scholing-weekends where all new guides learn the basics of telling the story of the Waddensea.

Besides giving Wadden Excursions we give educative tours on the North sea part of the island about fish, shells and other things we find on the beach. This so called ‘North Sea Excursion’ is mostly given to children, but also adults do really like it. This excursion gives more insights to tourists about what is happening under the sea level.

Another type of excursion that we give is only focused on children, where we together search for shells and other marine animals.

Besides explaining and learning about the Wadden and all its biological and ecological interactions it is also a good way to meet people with the same interests. It is really fun to do this together and it is a nice way to spend my summer holiday.
