Dear Reader,
after 9 hours in the airplane I landed on Hato; the airport of Curaçao. The warmth pushed into my face, after the security check. Now it is time to find the public busses and go to the student house where I stay for the coming 5 months. Only waited for 5 minutes and together with 2 girls from Germany, I went into a small buss which brought us to Willemstad. Only 2 dollars later and there it was: The Pondjesbrug. A really nice view, but I was so tired that it is smarter to first find my house and sleep.
After a good night of sleep I was ready for some adventure…. first some coffee at Starbucks and from there I went into the neighborhood of Otrabanda. It is really colored and a lot of people are on the streets. Also a lot of dogs run around and some of them are barking really loud. After this short morning walk I do some groceries and find the way to the bike shop, which took me 50 minutes walking on the side of the road. But now I’ve bought this bike, I really can enjoy Curaçao. So I decided to go to mambo beach, to take a look at the coral nursery organization where I would like to do voluntary work the coming months.
Mambo beach is very touristic, but also really nice with a lot of palmtrees and white beaches. After a small and cold beer, I immediately met someone from the plane, so I drank the beer with him. And now I go to Reef Renewal. The manager was present and he was really happy that I can help them with their coral nurseries voluntarily. So coming week I get more into contact with them and I start following the Coral Nursery Course.
For now I stop writing this blog and I go to the beach ;p
Ayo!
Michiel
